Lessons from the Pro’s….. 70.3 World Champs

Having spent a week in Mont Tremblant in June with the Purplepatch crew at a training camp, I was keen to get back there. So when I found out I had managed to collect enough points from racing to make the cut for the World 70.3 Champs, I was pretty excited. Mont Tremblant is a fantastic venue and they sure know how to put on a fantastic event. It’s like Disney Land. The town is made up of different coloured buildings and everyone just seems permanently happy. Being back here now for the World Champs the atmosphere in the town had gone up another notch and there was an air of excitement around the place.

The Dirty Double….Vineman 70.3 and Racine 70.3

Before any of you take your minds to the gutter….the dirty double is what Matt Dixon and the squad call back to back racing, one week apart.

My first dirty double just happened…Vineman 70.3 backed up one week later with Racine 70.3. The only other time I raced one week apart was backing up Ironman 70.3 World Champs in Vegas with London ITU World Champs, which was an Olympic distance. Those 8 days last September were incredible, but this was a different game, two 70.3 races against some stella women professionals.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road…Kansas 70.3 Race Report

So I’m classing this as my first proper 70.3 as a Pro, and with a 4th place finish I’m pretty happy. The big positives are that I felt like I stuck to the plan and took some huge learning away from the race, and even bigger positives, that I know there is still a lot more in the tank and a lot more to come. Having now been with Matt Dixon and the Purplepatch crew for 6 weeks, I’m feeling fitter and stronger every day. It’s a huge learning curve but I’m absolutely loving it and trying to soak up as much as I can, perfecting my sponge impressions!
